The Medical Examination
A young man was called for army service and had to be medically examined. The doctor was sitting at a desk when he came in. He said to the man,”Take your coatr and shirt off, lessen your belt and sit on that chair.” The young man did so. The doctor looked at him for a monent without getting up from his chair and them said,” All right. Put your clothes on again.”
“But you haven’t examined me at all.”the young man said in a troubled voice.
“It isn’t necessary.” The doctor said gently. “When I told you to take your coat and shirt off, you heard me all right, so you aren’t deaf. You saw the chair I pointed to ,so your eyesight is good enough for the army. You managed to take your clothes off and to sit on the chair, so your body must be healthy, and you understood what I told you to do and did it without a mistake, so you must possess enough intelligence for the army.”
体检
一个上伙子应征入伍，因此进行必要的体检。他进去见医生时，长征就坐在一张桌子旁。他对这个小伙子说；‘肥你的外套和衬衣胶掉，松开你的皮带，坐在那张椅子上。“看年轻人照做了。医生仍然坐在自己的椅子上盯着他看了一针儿，然后说：”好吧，把你的衣服穿上吧。”
“你并没有给我做什么检查啊。‘年轻人困惑地问。
“这并不重要。“医生耐心地说。”当我让你脱掉衣服和衬衣时，你全听到了，这证明你听力正常。你看见了我指给你的椅子，因此你的视力很好，完全适合当兵。你脱掉衣服坐在椅子上，这说明你的身体健康。你完全明白我说的话，并且能正确无误地照做，所以偌你拥有足够的智慧入伍了。”
