The farmer and the snake
One winter a farmer found a snake stiff and frozen with cold . he compassion on it, and taking it up , placed it in his bosom . the snake was quickly revived by the warmth , and resuming its natural instincts, bit its benefactor , inflicting on him a mortal wound . “oh,” cried the farmer with his last breath , “I am rightly served for pitying a scoundrel.”
The greatest kindness will not bind the ungrateful.
农夫和蛇
一个冬天,农夫在冰天雪地里发现了一条冻僵的蛇。他十分同情蛇,就把它捡起来放到他的怀里。蛇在温暖中很快苏醒过来,并且恢复了本性,咬了它的恩人一口,给了他致命的伤痛。“啊,”农夫用他的最后一口气叫喊道:“我竟然同情一个恶棍并救了它。”
最大的仁慈也不能阻住忘恩负义。
