8.  lap

A. mother often haolds her baby in her lap. You no longer sit on the lap of your mother now. But it is possible that you are frequently in the lap of forture, and that is very good, for that means you are aften lucky.

On the other hand, to live in the lap of luxury is not necessarily a good things. You are not likely to grow up into a tough person under such living conditons. Should that be the case, your future would be in the lap of the gods,for it would be unlikely that you would carve out a career for yourself.

膝上（大腿部分）

做妈妈的常常把婴儿抱在膝上。你现在不再坐在母亲的膝上了。不过你却有可能in the lap of forrune.这呆是好事情，因为那意思是说，你时常好运当头。

另一方面，to live in the lap of luxury（生活在奢华的环境里）却不一不定期有好处。你处于这种生活条件下，不见得能成为一个坚强的人。如果情况真的是这样，你的前途就会in the lap of the gods（听任命运安排了），因为你不可能闯出一番事业。
