英语俚语(slang)其实就是英国国家的各种方言词,是非正式的语言。在外国学英语,最有趣的大概就是可以听到很多俚语,但是很多时候光听那些句子,我们不容易马上会意出来他们在说什么,因此日常的积累很重要,否则我们的日常交流就会受影响。
比如sick这个词在俚语中其实是很棒的意思,如果参加派对跳舞的时候有人对你说:You’ve got some sick moves!不要以为别人说你生病了,这是别人在夸你跳舞跳得很棒。
1.cheesy(太夸张)
——I love her so much that I’m going to die!
——haha, you sound so cheesy.
2.chicken(胆小鬼)
Stop being a chicken and try the rollercoaster ride.
3.full—on(全力以赴)
I’m going to study full—on for this next exam.
4.go bananas(发疯,情绪失控)
Love is making you go bananas.
5.rubbish(废话,胡说八道)
——The last Harry Potter movie was terrible!
——What? That’s rubbish!
6.get it(明白)
——Your shirt looks really bad. I’m serious, it looks so ugly.
——Okay, okay. I got it the first time.
7.turn—on(诱惑)
That guy can sing while playing the guitar. That is definitely a turn—on for me.
8.up for it(愿意做某事)
I really want to go bungee jumping. Want to go with me? Would you be up for it?
9.jerk(混蛋、变态)
You broke my heart, you jerk.
10.bomb(不成功的、非常差的戏剧、电影或事件)
This is just another one of Hollywood’s bland and boring bombs.
