1.表示“几乎未来得及昨晚这件事就开始另一件事”的句型
这个句型表示“几乎未来得及做完这件事，紧接着就开始那件事。”hardly和scarcely都可以表示“几乎不”，具有否定含义。与when连用时，就可以表示“一……，就……”，相当于as soon as。when有时可改用before。其结构如下：
Hardly/Scarcely + had + 主语 + 过去分词...+（从句）+ when/before + 过去式动词。这个结构中的hardly或scarcely放在句首，此时，主语要倒装。
例句：
Hardly had I seen the lightening when I heard a loud thundering.
