An Important Call
Soonafterdave left college, one of his uncles, who was rich and had no children of his own, died and left Dave a lot of money, so he decided to set up his own real estate agency.
He found a nice office, bought some furniture and moved in. He had only beenthere for a few hours when he heard someone coming towards the door of his office. ‘It’s my first custyomer!” he thought. He quickly picked up the telephone and pretended to be very busy answering an important call from someone in New York who wanted to busy a big and expensive house in the country.
The man knocked at the door while this was going on, came in and waited polotely for the agent to finish his conversation. Then he said to him, “I’m from the telephone company, and I was sent here to connect your telephone.”

达夫大学毕业没多久，她的一个叔叔便去世了。由于这个叔叔非常富有而又无儿无女，所以留了一大笔遗产给达夫，达夫也因此打算开办自己的房地产公司。
他找了一个不错的办公地点，买了几件新家具后便搬了进去。几小时后，他听到门外有人正朝着他的办公室走来。
“这是我的第一名顾客！”他暗自想。接着他迅速地拿起电话。假装自己正忙着一个非常重要的电话，他还故意透露同对方是从纽约打来的，想在乡下买一栋又大又豪华的房子。
那个人敲门进来之后，达夫便开始按照自己事先想的那样演起戏来，来访者也十分有礼貌的等候着他。达夫结束了这实际上根本不存在的电话之后，那个人对达夫说：“我是电话公司的，来为您接通电话线。”
