The Ass and the Grasshopper
An ass having heard some grasshoppers chirping, was highly enchantad ; and ,desiring to possess the same charms of melody, demanded what sort of food they lived on to give them such beautiful voices. They replied, “the dew.” The ass resolved that he would live only upon dew, and in a short time died of hunger.
驴和蚱蜢
一头驴听到了几声蚱蜢的鸣叫声，并深深地被迷住了。驴也想拥有如此美妙的声音，并且向知道蚱蜢吃了什么食物才会发出那么悦耳的声音的。蚱蜢回答说是“露水.”于是，驴就下定决心以后就只喝露水，但是，不久它就饿死了。
