Presence Of Mind
A powerful lunatic escaped through an upper window of his asylum, and got upon the roof. When the keeper perceived it, he followed him, in order to make him come down again.
But the mad man seized him with irresistible strength and exclaimed:” Come. Let us jump dowm into the street.”
“Hold!” Said the deeper, who was dreadfully alarmed, but did not lose his presence of mind, “ Hold , that will not do. Any fool can jump down, there is nothing in that; but we will astonish the world by jumping up from the street.”
The lunatic thought this was still more wonderful, and willingly followed his keeper down stairs, where he was put in safety.
镇定自若
一个强壮的疯子通过收容所高处的窗户上了房顶。当看守发现时，为了使他下来，就跟在他后面。
但这个疯子用一种无法抗拒的力气抓住他并且呼喊着：“来，咱们一起跳到街上去。”
“别动！”看守说道。这位看守虽然受到了很厉害的惊吓，但却没有失去镇定。
“站住！决不要做那种事，只有傻子才会跳下去，街上什么也没有，可是我们要是从街上跳上来将会令世人惊讶的。
“那个疯子想，这可能是更加美妙的事情，于是就心甘情愿地跟着看守下了楼，来到了安全地关着他的地方。
