在美国，不同地区的气候差别很大。美国北部，尤其是加拿大边境附近的冬天是很冷的，而且降雪很多，可以埋掉一辆汽车。因此，在冬天的时候，北部的人通常跑到南部避寒，弗罗里达和加利福尼亚都是不错的选择。北方大雪纷飞的时候，南方依旧是阳光明媚，有点像中国的黑龙江与海南岛的区别。

不过到了夏季，南方的人也会去北方避暑，因为像弗罗里达和加利福尼亚的夏天又闷又热。

朋友们聊天，天气和气候是个不错的话题，一般比较安全，不涉及他人隐私，大家也乐于接受。例如，陌生人之间可以随时聊聊天气，是个打破沉默的好话题，见到朋友可以先说声“ A nice day ! ”。
