Ouyang: Haven’t seen you for ages. How are you getting along with your business. Mr. Jackson?
Jackson: Can’t complain, I should say. Our customers are quite satisfied with the photo-copiers you supply. Ads a result, the demand has been rising rapidly in recent months.
Ouyang: I’m pleased to hear that.
Jackson: Mr. Ouyang, I think you know already that I want to discuss with you the problem of agency for your pho-copiers in our district.
Ouyang: You mentioned it in your previous fax. But I must say your proposal came as a little surprise to me.
Jackson: Why? Won’t you ike an agent for the sale of your products? We are a first rate commercial house in our area with highly spoken-of reputation. Or, do you mean you doubt our ability as an agent?
Ouyang: Not in the least, Mr. Jackson. We do appreciate very much what you have done in the past in pushing the sale of our photo-copiers. But, as it is , we have had only less than one year of business between us. We are now only at the get-acquainted stage. Therefore we don’t think it proper to consider the matter of sole agency at present.
Jackson: Mr. Ouyang, I wish you to know that we have wide connections in Australia as well as rich experiences in business. And we hae a good mind to expand the sale of your products in the years to come.
Ouyang: We can still expand business without an agency agreement, can’t we/ When we have tried out a period of cooperation and come to know each other better, we may come round and discuss the problem of agency.
Jackson: All right, it seems I have to be content with what you say.
