WORDS OF LATIN AND GERMAN ORIGIN 源于拉丁语和德语言
英语里表示同一个事物时,常会有源于拉丁语(Lain origin)和德语/日耳曼语(German/Germanic origin)的两个单词。
例如,拉丁语系的commence和德语/日耳曼语系的start,都是“开始”的意思。在正式场合下常用拉丁语系的词。
例如前一页所示,剧院里的广播就常用commence面不是start.
