John :Taxi fares are calculated first by a base fare , which is usually $10 . After that it is based on distance .

John : That is why the charge per mile travelled is divided by time spent in the taxi , just in case of bad traffic .

美国的出租车价格比其他交通方式贵很多，而且得给小费。不过如果四五个人一起的话，每个人摊下来就几美元，也还是可以接受的。一般出去旅游还是自己开车方便，当然如果是几个人一起去比较近的地方，打车也是个比较快捷的途径。纽约的出租车都是黄色的，这已经成了纽约的象征之一。美国有的州是大乡村，相比之下比较偏僻，打车的话得给出租车公司打电话才行，不像纽约那样可以随时打到。
